Roger Levenson was born in Bangor, Maine on October 10, 1914. He studied printing while attending the University of Maine. He served in Hawaii during WWII and settled in the San Francisco Bay area where he spent the rest of his life. He founded and operated the Tamalpais Press from circa 1955-1976 when he retired. Judith Sutcliffe, artist, tile painter, private printer, dollmaker, and type designer, started her career in Audubon, Iowa, where she started her own business in 1968. In conjunction with Lorraine Larsen, she created dolls for the animated film Raggedy Ann and Andy. In 1978, Sutcliffe moved to Santa Barbara, Calif., and began concentrating on tile murals, private printing, and type design.
